PERMIT SPECIALIST TRAINEE 006 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />grading; asks appropriate questions to establish ownership, licensing, zoning, type of <br />construction, individual construction problems, reasonable value of project on which to <br />assess fee; locates property on maps as required <br /> <br />RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: <br />Working knowledge of: standard office practices and procedures. <br /> <br />Skill and ability to: mange multiple priorities with responsibility for multiple phone lines; <br />communicate effectively in oral and written form; establish and maintain professional working <br />relationships with co-workers, other agencies, contractors, owners, and the general public; read <br />and interpret a variety of plans, specifications, and maps relevant to the permit process; estimate <br />construction values; understand building terminology and apply as necessary; to accurately word <br />process; maintain records and prepare report; operate a computer; and accurately data enter. <br /> <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: <br /> AND <br />1.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; <br /> <br /> AND <br />2.One (1) year of general office and customer service experience; <br /> <br /> <br />3.Within one (1) year of hire, to satisfactorily complete an in-house Building Inspection <br />OR <br />Code training course; <br /> <br /> <br />4.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant <br />to the position. <br /> <br />NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: <br /> <br /> <br />1.Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime <br />may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br /> <br />Adopted: 4/77 <br />Revised: 12/78; 1/83; 12/86; 12/88; 4/94; 2/02; 9/05; 5/07; 4/08 <br />MR: <br />07/13 <br />Retitled: 2/98 <br /> <br />
