<br />DEPARTMENT SPECIALIST 1 010 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />4.Operates standard office equipment (copier, fax, word processor) with minimal <br />instruction; copies documents; performs simple maintenance on office machinery as <br />required. <br /> <br /> <br />5.Files to existing filing systems; distributes and processes mail, correspondence and <br />materials; maintains adequate office supplies, reordering when necessary. <br /> <br /> <br />6.Accesses computer for information; updates and retrieves information; and may complete <br />less complex data entry assignments. <br /> <br /> <br />7.Types or word processes routine material; completes forms and form letters. <br /> <br />RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: <br />Basic knowledge of: general office practices and procedures; English composition, spelling and <br />grammar; and modern office equipment, including computers, and their intended use. <br /> <br />Basic skill to: type and word process at an acceptable rate of speed; file; and perform math <br />calculations. <br /> <br />Ability to: understand and follow written and oral communications, carry out work assignments <br />under supervision and with general instructions; meet and assist clients, staff and the general <br />public in a courteous manner; and understand, convey and apply readily recognizable standards <br />and procedures. <br /> <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: <br /> <br />1.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, preferably supplemented by course <br />OR <br />work in general office skills; <br /> <br /> <br />2.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant <br />to the position. <br /> <br />Adopted: 12/92 <br />Revised: 11/96; 5/07 <br />MR: <br /> 08/13 <br /> <br />
