LEGAL SECRETARY 1 016 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />9.Backs-up other positions as needed. <br /> <br />RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: <br />Knowledge of: modern office practices, procedures, and techniques; English composition, <br />spelling, and grammar; arithmetic and general record/bookkeeping practices; modern office <br />equipment and machinery and their intended use; a variety of computer systems and software. <br /> <br />Ability and skill to: accurately and effectively perform the various assigned tasks and duties <br />following general procedures and program policies; meet and assist the general public and staff <br />in a courteous and professional manner; use tact and judgment in dealing with the public <br />concerning sensitive and confidential matters; understand and effectively follow oral and written <br />instructions, communications, and procedures; apply newly assigned procedures and practices to <br />specific work assignments; type and word process accurately and at an acceptable rate of speed; <br />access and use various computer systems and software; make decisions independently in <br />accordance with established policies; provide backup to other positions as needed. <br /> <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: <br /> <br />1.Graduation from high school, preferably supplemented by secretarial training courses; <br />ANDOR <br /> two (2) years experience in office and secretarial work; <br /> <br /> <br />2.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant <br />to the position. <br /> <br />NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: <br /> <br /> <br />1.Must pass a criminal history background investigation, which includes fingerprinting; <br />however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this <br />classification. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Final candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug-screening test. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Some positions may require possession of, or obtain within six (6) months of hire, Law <br />Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification. <br /> <br />Adopted: 3/78 <br />Revised: 11/85; 12/96; 1/02; 9/07 <br />MR: <br />08/13 <br /> <br />
