LEGAL SECRETARY 2 017 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Ability and skill to: independently, accurately and effectively perform assigned tasks and duties <br />following established procedures and policies; meet and assist the public, staff, and other <br />personnel of other businesses in a courteous, professional manner; comprehend and adhere to <br />stated oral and written instructions, communications and procedures; apply principles, policies <br />and procedures to specific work assignments; compose correspondence and legal documents in <br />business form; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; use tact and judgment in <br />dealing with the public concerning sensitive and confidential matters; type and word process <br />accurately and at an acceptable rate of speed; access and use various computer systems and <br />software. <br /> <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: <br /> <br />1.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, preferably supplemented by secretarial <br />AND <br />training; <br /> <br /> <br />2.Three (3) years experience in office and secretarial work, one (1) year of which must be <br />OR <br />equivalent to the level of Legal Secretary 1, in a public or private law office; <br /> <br /> <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant <br />to the position. <br /> <br />NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: <br /> <br /> <br />1.Must pass a criminal history background investigation, which includes fingerprinting; <br />however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this <br />classification. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Final candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug-screening test. <br /> <br /> <br />3.For District Attorney’s Office positions, possession of, or obtain within six (6) months of <br />hire, Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification. <br /> <br />Adopted: 3/78 <br />Revised: 11/85; 12/96; 9/01; 2/06; 9/07 <br />MR: 08/13 <br />
