Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />4.Perform system inspections for new tank installations, construction, and repairs; correct <br />problems with equipment and control as they occur. <br />5.Create and complete reports as requested, for supervisor, management, and the State <br />of Oregon, such as the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). <br />6.Record meter readings and other data using manual entry and field data collectors. <br />7.Train other water, and wastewater operator employees as assigned. <br />8.Perform utility locates for service districts and the operations division. <br />9.Maintain parts inventories for the services districts. <br />10.Respond to emergencies and provides 24-hour response for divisions and districts. <br />11.Maintain wastewater treatment plant building; scrub, wash and clean work areas, <br />surfaces, and equipment. <br />12.Perform critical equipment weekly survey including visual inspections, recording of <br />data, and correction of found deficiencies. <br />13.May oversee and coordinate contractor crews to confirm compliance to appropriate <br />codes, policies, and procedures. <br />14.May take part in hazard cleanups, according to level of training, for incidents on roads <br />and road-related properties. <br />15.Perform other duties as assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school, or equivalent; AND <br />2.Six (6) months experience at a Class 1 or higher wastewater treatment plant or <br />collection system; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the <br />position, as determined by Marion County. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license. Must <br />> <br />possess, at time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record. <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime <br />> <br />may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />Obtain an Oregon Department of Human Services Small Water System Operator <br />> <br />certification within six (6) months of appointment. <br />Obtain a Class 1 wastewater treatment certificate within one (1) year of appointment. <br />> <br />Obtain a Class 1 wastewater collection certificate within one (1) year of appointment. <br />> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of wastewater collection and treatment operations septic tank effluent <br />pumping (STEP) and lagoon systems); water system reporting requirements; state laws <br />pertaining to operation of wastewater collection and treatment operations; septic tank <br />construction, installation, sizing criteria and inspection criteria; electrical pump motor <br />maintenance and electrical troubleshooting techniques; flow meter installation; materials, <br />methods and equipment commonly employed in repairing, renovating and reconstruction of <br />wastewater systems; visual inspections, data recording and correction; operation of water <br />systems; safety practices to perform efficiently including confined space conditions; plumbing, <br /> repair and maintenance of equipment and power tools. <br />Skill to operate computer software including e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and <br />database programs to maintain assets; troubleshoot and repair water, wastewater and <br />facilities equipment and related systems; develop clear and concise reports. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID...3/19/2021 <br /> <br />
