Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />3.Labeling envelopes for mailing <br />4.Opening ballots <br />5.Counting ballots <br />6.Inspecting ballots <br />7.Customer service <br />8.Basic office clerical duties such as answering phones, taking messages, and <br />transferring calls <br />9.Signature verifications <br />10.Running vote tally equipment <br />11.Monitoring election observers <br />12.Transporting election ballots <br />13.Access computerized information; update and retrieve data as directed <br />14.Proofing layout, grammar, and spelling of various election materials including such <br />items as ballots, ballot inserts and voter pamphlets <br />15.Packing, loading, and distributing ballot drop-site equipment and materials to offsite <br />facilities. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, preferably supplemented by course <br />work in general office skills; OR <br />2.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience <br />relevant to the position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must be a registered voter of the state of Oregon. By statute will be required to <br />> <br />disclose party affiliation prior to hiring. <br />Some roles may require the applicant possess a current driver's license in the <br />> <br />applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will <br />obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor <br />Vehicle Services. <br />Due to the variety of jobs that may be assigned, applicant must be able to lift a <br />> <br />minimum of 20-40 pounds. <br />The wage per hour is determined by the assigned functions. While working in this <br />> <br />classification, an individual may be paid a different hourly wage, depending upon which <br />function they are performing at any given time. The hourly wage is not cumulative. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Basic knowledge of general office practices and procedures; of English composition, spelling <br />and grammar; basic knowledge of modern office equipment, including computers, and their <br />intended use. <br />Basic skills and abilities in typing and word processing at an acceptable rate of speed; filing <br />and performing math calculations; understanding and following written and oral <br />communications, carrying out work assignments under supervision and with general <br />instructions; to meeting and assisting clients, staff and the general public in a courteous <br />manner; understanding, conveying and applying readily recognizable standards and <br />procedures. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID...3/22/2021 <br /> <br />
