The tank will be
replaced with an approved DEQ tank and an installer has not been chosen as of yet, a distribution box will
also need to be installed. When the tank and box has been installed an authorization to connect to a
replacement dwelling to the system will be approved.
A site inspection conducted by Marion County on December 29,2020 found the submitted description and
location of the system to be accurate.Currently the drainfield does not meet a 10 ft setback from the
foundation slab to the drainfield, however the owner has provided a plot plan document that states that
the new homes foundation will meet a 5 ft setback from tank to the homes foundation and a 10 ft setback
from drain line to new foundation.
This parcel was involved in the Beachie Creek Fire and the tank and drainfield were not damaged in the
fire. •
This septic system is a nonconforming septic system;
This septic system was installed pre 1973 and does not meet current setbacks and standards. The
drainline is only 40 ft long into a rapidly draining soil and does not meet the rapidly draining soils rule,
OAR 340-071-0220(1)(d)(a)and(B), however does meet(C),and under OAR 340-071-0205,with no
increase in flow is approved for connection when new tank and dbox is installed.
This system also does not meet OAR 340-071 Table 1 #3,which requires a 100 ft setback to Public
Surface Waters, however under OAR 340-071-220(j)(B)a lot of record created before 1973 must meet a 50
ft setback to public surface waters. The home owner has provided a document stating that the drainline
meets a 65 ft setback from the high water mark of the Santiam River.
Due to well setback concerns on this property as well as neighboring properties, when a repair system is
needed a treatment unit will be required.
Kim Aldrich EH-W10147892
•
6/17/21: 1:34:08PM Page 2 of 3 ONS_OnsiteCSCpr
