NARRATIVE
This survey was made to find or replace corner monuments for the land
described in Reel 4462, Page 151. That deed describes lots in Henry's
Smith's Addition to Aumsville (Volume 1, Page 12, Book of Town Plats).
By calling for a subdivision plat the plat and the survey it represents are
incorporated as if recited in the description. In this case there is an
ambiguity. Henry's Smith's Addition to Aumsville was re—platted in the plat
of Aumsville (Volume 1, Page 13, Book of Town Plats), which references
"Henry Smith's part North of County Road". Perhaps the latter plat is best
understood as simply indicating lots that were previously platted. Either way,
the lots are the some size. Neither plat indicates if original monuments were
set, and none have been found in subsequent surveys. Surveys in the area are
primarily based on monuments set by David Bates as shown in Survey No.
2038. Bates monuments have become monuments of common report, that is,
monuments that are so commonly used by surveyors that they have taken on
the significance of original monuments. I have accepted Bates' monuments
and those set in other surveys based on them or based on other surveys that
accepted the Bates monuments. For the east line of Market Road 89, 1 have
accepted monuments from the County survey of Market Road 89, Survey No.
