Taylor Property, Claim#3711K475P(3/23/2021) t of 7 <br /> Introduction <br /> This report contains findings, conclusions and recommendations relevant to the wildfire smoke impact <br /> assessment conducted at 49930 N. Santiam Highway in Idanha, Oregon. Forensic Analytical Consulting <br /> Services, Inc. (FACS)conducted the investigation on February 20, 2021. The investigation was <br /> conducted at the request and authorization of Jason Casewell of State Farm Insurance—Claim#37- <br /> 11 K4-75P, in response to potential impact to the above mentioned property from smoke related to <br /> wildfires. The purpose of the investigation was to 1)conduct an assessment of the wildfire damage claim; <br /> 2) identify and determine the extent of impact to the structure and/or contents; and 3) provide <br /> recommendations for remediation as necessary. <br /> History <br /> The following history of events was developed based on discussions with various parties: <br /> • In September 2020, the Beachie Creek and Lyons head fires occurred east of Idanha, OR. On <br /> October 31, 2020, the Beachie Creek wildfire was downgraded with the perimeter of the wildfire <br /> 100 percent contained. Road closures remain in place in some areas to protect the public from <br /> falling trees and hazardous debris. Falling trees and ash pits are expected to smolder for several <br /> months. Based on available information, the fire was less than one mile from the property. <br /> • The insured filed a claim for loss related to damage of structure and/or contents due to the above <br /> listed wildfire. <br /> • In February 2021, State Farm Insurance retained FACS to assess potential wildfire smoke <br /> impact. <br /> The following information was provided during an interview with various parties (e.g., the insured, <br /> occupants and adjuster): <br /> • The homeowners were notified by local authorities to evacuate from the area. <br /> • There has been household cleaning performed by the homeowners; however, the walls and <br /> ceiling areas had been professionally cleaned. <br /> Site Characterization <br /> The subject residence is an approximately 2,300 square foot, two-bedroom, two-bath single-family <br /> detached home located in a rural area. The dwelling was constructed in approximately 2003. Interior <br /> walls and ceilings are gypsum wallboard. The carpet in the residence had been removed in December <br /> 2020. Wood flooring was located in the remaining areas. Wood siding and a metal roof characterizes the <br /> exterior construction.
