To: Richard Cole
From: Robert Goodwin, REHS
RE: Repair Permit at 132 E Sorbin Ave SE Gates
April 13, 2021 S
Page 2
reviewed by this office, notarized and recorded at the Marion County Clerk's office prior
to permit issuance. Please see attached two party easement form and instructions.
A DETAILED SEPTIC SYSTEM STAKEOUT IS REQUIRED prior to the issuance of a
septic system installation permit, and should be completed prior to any surveying of a
proposed easement. The initial system must be staked out at a minimum and it is
highly recommended a replacement field be staked so that another easement is not
required in the future. A scale drawn, detailed site plan must be submitted with the
application for the installation permit. The stakeout must be inspected on the property
and approved before the permit can be issued. Instructions for the stakeout are
attached and are available in our office.
The owner of a Pressurized Distribution System must maintain a service contract with a
licensed and certified professional to service and maintain the onsite system. A service
contract must be entered into before a certificate of satisfactory completion is issued
and must be maintained until the system is decommissioned.
AN EFFLUENT LIFT PUMP WILL BE REQUIRED to install the septic system disposal
field in the approved area and at the required depth. Detailed instructions for dosing
tank/effluent pump installations are available in our office. The electrical wiring to the
pump and alarm must be installed in accordance with the appropriate Electrical Code.
The electrical work must be done under a Marion County Electrical Permit and must be
inspected and approved by a Marion County Electrical Inspector. The work must be left
uncovered and accessible for inspection. The electrical inspection includes the
connections to the pump and alarm in the dosing tank, the wiring in the trench and the
connections in the structure.
PRESSURIZED DISTRIBUTION systems are installed in soils with excessive amounts
of sand and gravel in the soil profile. Pressurized distribution systems are limited to
sites with residential strength wastewater. A minimum 5-foot squirt height is required at
the remotest orifice, and no more than a 10% difference in squirt height is allowed from
the nearest to the remotest orifice in each line. Based on the soil texture in the test pits,
the required hole spacing in the pressure distribution piping will be 24 inches on center.
THE APPROVED SEPTIC SYSTEM AREA MUST BE PROTECTED from any vehicular
traffic and livestock. Other activities such as excavating or filling, driveway placement,
paving or other similar activities that alter the natural soil conditions will adversely affect
the soil and the septic system function and lead to premature system failure. The area
must not be subjected to excessive saturation due to artificial drainage of ground
surfaces, driveways, building downspouts or other sources. The areas of the initial
septic system and the future repair system must both be protected.
5155 Silverton Road NE•Salem,OR 97305-3802• www.co.marion.or.us
Printed on recycled paper• Reduce—Reuse—Recycle-Recover
