SE, Lyons, OR
Brian Nicholas, P.E.
ADMINISTRATION Dear Ms. Reynolds,
BUILDING I have evaluated test pits at the above referenced property for the purpose
INSPECTION of your major repair application, my findings are below:
EMERGENCY Approved Area & System Type
MANAGEMENT Soil test pits and other site features were evaluated during the site visit on
ENGINEERING May 14, 2021. Conditions observed during this site evaluation indicate
that the area around the evaluated test holes is not capable of supporting
ENVIRONMENTAL a Standard septic system due to the following limitation:
SERVICES
Depth to Soil with Rapid or Very Rapid Permeability
OPERATIONS
DEQ Rule requirement: Soil with rapid or very rapid permeability
PARKS must be 36" below the ground surface. "Soil with rapid or very rapid
PLANNING permeability" refers to sandy loam or coarser soil with 35% or more
coarse fragments over 2mm; loamy sand or sand; or stones, cobbles,
SURVEY gravel and rock fragments with too little soil material to fill the void
spaces. OAR 340-071-0220(1)(c)
Description: Treatment of sewage occurs in the soil around the
drainfield area. If the sewage enters the groundwater before it has
been adequately treated in the soil, it poses a potential public health
hazard. A layer of rapid permeability was observed around 12-30
inches at this site.
Under the conditions observed at the above address, a
PRESSURIZED DISTRIBUTION OR SEEPAGE BED system is required
by DEQ rules. The PRESSURIZED approval is based on the staking of
the property.
5155 Silverton Road NE•Salem,OR 97305-3802• www.co.marion.or.us/PW
Printed on recycled paper• Reduce—Reuse—Recycle-Recover
