...I `'.„.t.,,,,!g
Marion County
I. ,_• OREGON
.emu„
PUBLIC WORKS
October 25, 2021
(503)588-5036
Phat Freddies, LLC
BOARD OF Attn: Rick Murrand
COMMISSIONERS 3469 Broken Arrow Loop NW
Kevin Cameron,Chair Salem Or 97304
Danielle Bethel)
Colm Willis RE: Septic Authorization for connection of replacement dwelling for
265 Butte St N, Detroit, OR
DIRECTOR
Brian Nicholas, P.E. Dear Mr. Murrand,
ADMINISTRATION
An application for an authorization inspection was submitted by Eco, Inc
BUILDING on 9/14/21. A site visit was done on 9/22/21 by this office. The application
INSPECTION cannot be approved for the following reasons:
EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT 1.) Slope was measured at 45-55%, which per OAR 340-071-0220, is
too steep for a septic system.
ENGINEERING 2.) One drain line was found to be 10' in length before it is broken or
clogged. Another drain line runs down the steep slope. •
ENVIRONMENTAL 3.) The existing tank is located directly on the slope break.
SERVICES
These conditions pose a high likelihood of causing sewage to surface if a
OPERATIONS dwelling is reconnected to the existing system, which constitutes an
PARKS environmental health hazard per OAR 340-071-0100. Under OAR 340-
071-0205(4), this application must be denied and a major repair permit is
PLANNING required.
SURVEY Due to the steep slopes at the property (45-55%), there is not an apparent
clear path to approval for a septic system. This office recommends
contacting septic consultant to help problem-solve this challenging
property, a list of consultants in the area is attached. Please contact Kim
Aldrich, Onsite Wastewater Specialist at 503-373-4354 with any questions
regarding this application.
Thank
Robert Goodwin, REHS
Marion County Onsite Wastewater Specialist
503-566-3990
5155 Silverton Road NE•Salem,OR 97305-3802• www.co.marion.or.us/PW
Printed on recycled paper• Reduce—Reuse—Recycle-Recover
