Bob Foster, Sanitarian
Marion County Building Department
Senator Building
220 High Street SE
Salem, OR 97310

Re:

SS-General; Pythian
~uilding; Tax ~t~.
90160-880, T4S, R1W,
Section 13, W.M.; 14979
Second Street NE, Aurora,
OR; Marion County.

Dear Mr. Foster:

Regarding our joint visit to the subject property on April 2, 1992, we
found that the building at that location had zero lot line clearance
from the state highway and city street right-of-ways as well as the
adjoining lot to the north. Therefore, there is no available space to
install an on-site sewage disposal system on the property. Previously
the Department authorized the use of a seepage pit to repair the
failing sewage disposal system on the building. Subsequent to that
repair, Pythian E~2ildingwas totally destroyed by fire.

Use of a seepage pit was an appropriate solution to a failing system
for an existing occupied building. As the structure has been totally
or nearly totally destroyed, the use of the seepage pit and connection
thereto should be abandoned, should the Owner of the property desire
to reconstruct a building on this property, said structure must be
designed to accommodate a standard or alternative on-site disposal
system, in accordance withOAR 340-71 on the property or the OWner must
obtain easement to another property for the construction of an adequate
sewage disposal system.

i'f you have any questions, please call me at 378-8240.

.~rely~

Environmental Specialist

JAP:cjd
F:kjapkaurora2.1tr

cc: City of Aurora, P.O.
