MARION COUNTY
DEPT. OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

CRAIGO LUEDEMAN
Director

Senator Building * 220 High Street NE * Second Floor * Salem, Oregon 97301-3670

July 1, 1985

MOBILE HOME PARK OWNERS AND MANAGERS

SUBJECT: Survey of Marion County Mobile Home Parks

Dear Park Owner/Manager:

In the late 1960's and through the 1970's, Mobile Home Park
inspections were performed by the State of Oregon, D~partment of
Commerce. During this period, a fee was charged, and an annual
inspection was made. I don't know all the history involved, but there
was much dissatisfaction with the process. Shortly thereafter, the
program was discontinued, and responsibility for all park development
and inspection was transfered to Marion County. Since that time, only
new park development or expansion and individual mobile home
locations have been inspected.

This summer, with the help of Chemeketa Community College students,
we have the opportunity to conduct a survey of mobile home parks in
Marion County. This can be done for a nominal amount, and at no
expense to the park owners. We are asking students to interview park
managers and collect whatever information they may have about special
park rules or services available.

The purpose of this survey is not to enforce new regulations or to
cause any hardship on park owners or tenants. On the other hand, if
condition is noted that is truly hazardous, we must ask that the
condition be corrected. I am sure you can understand our position.

When these Chemeketa students survey your park, please be helpful,
and extend them every courtesy. If, for any reason you want to
discuss this program or want to register a complaint about the way
the survey is being conducted, please call me.

Sincerely,

DONALD WOODLEY

O. LUEDEMAN
DIRECTOR

DW/COL/pmb
