PORTLAND, oREGON 97219 SUBJECT= SITE #92-2443, T~10S, R:5E, SITE ADDRESS: 320 SANTIA~4 AVENUEt DETROIT~ OREGON 97342 An evaluation has been made of the above described property proposed for installation of an on-site sewage disposal system. As a result of that investigation, it has been determined that the site specified on your applica- tion does not q~alify for a standard septic system or any of the alternative systems. The conditions on the site do not meet the minimum requirements of the Department of Environmental Quality On-Site Sewage Disposal Rules. These rules are specified in Oregon Administrative Rules, Chapter 340, Division 71, Sections 100 through 600. Consequently, this site must be denied. The principal reasons for denial of this site are related to parcel size and setbacks. The following paragraphs outline the specific reasons for this denial. PARCEL SIZE AND SETBACKS: 1. There is insufficient area on the property for installation of an approved on-site septic system which will meet the setbacks as required in the D.E.Q. rules. The setbacks which are of particular concern are circled on the attached sheet. Each lot or parcel must have sufficient usable area available to accommodate an initial and replacement septic system. It should be noted that this study was done only in the area proposed on your application for on-site sewage disposal. Within the boundaries of your proper- ty, it is possible that soil conditions in a different area of the property may be different than those examined in the existing test pits. If you feel that better soil conditions may exist in another area of the property, additional test pits will be inspected with no additional charge. Prepare and submit a new site plan showing the new area proposed for evaluation. Notify this office of your request in writing and within ninety (90) days of the initial site evaluation. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Space must be available to construct an original plus a complete replacement drainfield which meets the minimum separation distances outlined by the enclosed setback list. The minimum amount of drainfield for the proposed three bedroom residence using alternative seepage trenches is lineal feet for each drainfield. An alternative sand filter system needs 145 lineal feet of drainfield for each field. A two bedroom unit needs 100 lineal feet for each seepage trench system drainfield and 90 lineal feet for each sand filter system drainfield. The existing septic tank must be pumped and properly abandoned.
