The tread width at a point 12 inches from the side <br />where the treads are narrower shall be not less than 9 inches. The <br />average width of any tread cannot be less than 9 inches. (R-213.2) <br /> <br />Porches, balconies or raised floor surfaces located more than 30 in. <br />above the floor or grade ahall have guardrail not less than 36 inches in <br />height. Required guardrail shall have intermediate rails or ornamental <br />closures which will not allow passage of an object 6 in. or more in <br />diameter. (R-214.2) <br /> <br />When alterations repairs or additions are made to an existing dwelling, <br />the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors lesated as <br />required for new dwellings.
