This plan review covers the addition to and/or alteration of an existing <br /> structure. This review is not intended to prohibit the building <br /> inspector from requesting an evaluation of the acceptability of existing <br /> structural members that may appear to be unsafe. ~xisting construction <br /> not specifically detailed in the submitted plans and structural <br /> calculations is beyond the scope of this review. <br /> <br />2. A copy of approved plans when required by the building official shall be <br /> kept on the site of the building or work at the time of inspection. <br /> lll.2) <br /> <br />3. ~very sleeping room shall have at least one operable window approved for <br /> emergency egress or rescue. The window sill height shall not be more <br /> than 44 inches above the floor. The minimum net clear opening width <br /> dimension shall be 20 inches. The minimum net opening height shall be <br /> 24 inches. The minimum net clear opening area shall be at least 5.7 <br /> square feet. (R-210.2) <br /> <br />4. When alterations repairs Or additions are made to an existing dwelling, <br /> the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as <br /> required for new dwellings. (R-215.1) <br /> <br />5. smoke detectors shall be installed outside of each separate sleeping <br /> area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional <br /> story of the dwelling including basements. In dwelling units with split <br /> levels, a smoke detector need be installed only on the upper level, <br /> provided the lower level is less than one full story below the upper <br /> level, except that if there is a door between levels then a detector is <br /> required on each level. Ail detectors shall be interconnected such that <br /> the actuation of one alarm will actuate all the alarms in the individual <br /> unit and shall provide an alarm which will be audible in all sleeping <br /> areas. (R-215.1) <br /> <br /> 6. Bathrooms shall be provided with artificial light and an approved <br /> mechanical ventilation system capable of producing a change of air every <br /> 12 minutes Or a window of not less than 3 sq. ft., one-half of which <br /> must be openable. (R-203.3) <br /> <br />7. The dwelling insulation and components shall comply with the <br /> Resisdential Energy Code, see the attached informational sheet. <br /> <br /> The floors need to be insulated with a minimum of R-25 insulation as the <br /> floor is new construction. The walls need to be insulated with R-15 <br /> insulation as they are existing, but are exposed cavities and the garage <br /> <br />"APPROVED" only when this sheet is attached to plans <br /> <br /> <br />
