We do not disagree that the fill would be suitable for the placement of mobile homes if
it were not for the high moisture content, Our con6ern is that as the fill dries it will cause uneven
settlement of hemes placed on the fill. From the Braun/Intertec report, the fill on the site does not appear
to be excessively deep,

We see several options that may a ow p acement of, mobi e homes:

1) Wait until later in the year after the fill has had the, opportunity to dry naturally.

2) Place a 6-inch gravel blanket on the mobile home ;stand to provide a suitable base to bridge the wet fill
in its existing condition,

3) Place the mobile home on a reinforced concrete strip footing on the wet fill.

The State of Oregon in its "1996 Oregon Manufactured Dwelling Standard" pre-empts the use of footing
designs by the manufacturer. We cannot consider the Golden West
foundation design you submitted.
~__~e,~,~.~ Tarno Coleman, P.E.
Plan Check Engineer
Marion County Building inspection
265 Church St N~
Salem, OR 97301-3670

(~0~) 588-5147
Fax: (5(33) 373-4~.77

08:37:08
