\\L.NOR Tim.
fr
FI !F N T 7 INC.crxu n•¢tN` PACIFIC NORTHWEST ENGINEERING,
load capacity of the total system is being achieved as constructed, within the guidelines
of the approved drawings.
From the applicable load calculations on sheet 11 it is shown that the maximum
anticipated loading for lateral shear is 376 lbs. /lin. ft. (for a total anticipated load of 376
X 12 = 4,512 lbs, well below the allowable of 9,800 lbs). The allowable (as derived by
testing) load capacity is well above the required by a safety factor of greater than 2.0.
Testing was completed on the uplift capacity for one set of upper and lower hold-down
devices. As show on the test report one system has an allowable capacity of 3,007 lbs.
From the load requirement calculations sheet 12 it is shown that the load capacity
requirement is 1,415 lbs. Again using a factor of safety of 2.0 the required is well below
the allowable. We used the maximum required load capacity by the minimum length and
maximum load distance in all calculations.
From these comparisons (the wind shear calculations and the tested results) it is evident
that when the SFRB54 (SFS-60) foundation system is assembled to the manufactures
installation instructions, it is more than adequate to resist both lateral shear and uplift
loads in wind zones I,II and III.
Lateral Resistance to Seismic Loading
As the calculations show "Wind" prevails for shear and uplift of the building in both
directions. As previously indicated the Seismic calculations were done using a seismic
Site "D", Ss=1.384 Fa=-1.0, and R=5.This loading shows the Seismic loading is a smaller
requirement then the "Wind" (by almost a 1.5:1 ratio), hence the "Wind prevailing"
designation.
Lateral Resistance as a Restrained Retaining Wall
We have calculated the use of the Smart Foundation RB-54" (SFS-60) system as a
restrained retaining wall (see sheets 14 and 15). The system will allow for the retention
of 30" +/- of soils backfilled against the maximum height of a 32"tall wall. For any wall
height lower these calculations will prevail. Included in the same calculations is a
verification of the designed footing size (12" wide X 6" thick X cont.).
Summation
The following calculations show the final results of the Smart Foundation RB-54" (SFS-
` 60) system:
4242 Silver Falls Dr. N.,Silverton, OR. 97381
ph #(503) 873-3184 fax#(503) 873-3907
P.E.# 13,676
