results are computed relative to the red oak specimen, which has a rating of
100, and the inorganic reinforced cement board, which has a 0 rating, and
are expressed as Flame Spread Index and Smoke Density. However, there is
not necessarily a relationship between these two measurements.
PREPARATION AND CONDITIONING OF TEST SPECIMEN:
The panel specimens submitted for testing, selected and identified by the
client, were physically self-supporting and required no further sample
preparation.
The panels were transferred to storage racks in an atmosphere maintained at
70°F and 50 percent relative humidity and conditioned to equilibrium.
TEST PROCEDURE:
The zero reference and other data critical to furnace operation were
verified by conducting a 10-minute test using 1/4-inch GRC board on the day
of the test. Periodic tests using NOFMA certified select grade red oak
flooring provided data for the 100 reference. The panels were then placed
on the tunnel ledges and tested in accordance with the standard test method
procedure.
TEST RESULTS:
The test results, computed on the basis of observed flame front advance and
the integrated area under the recorded curve of the smoke density apparatus,
are presented in Table II. In recognition of possible variations in results
due to limitations of the test method, the results are computed to the
nearest number divisible by five.
The data for flame spread and smoke developed are shown as solid lines on
the Tektronix 4051 computer print-out at the end of the report.
TABLE I - DESCRIPTION OF MATERIAL TESTED
Material Tested: Faswall Wallform Systems
Manufacturing of Faswall wallforms (WF) and the patented K-X wood
chips is licensed by INSUL HOLZ-BETON INTERNATIONAL, INC., Windsor,
South Carolina.
Date of Test: July 25, 1990
Composition:
The mix contains K-X treated pinchips from southern pines plus 19.5
lbs. of Portland cement per cubic foot of treated chips. The fire
side of each panel has been covered with a scratch coat of 1 part
cement and 2 parts sand.
Ar-
2c4/1 an
n
COMMERCIAL si n
