3)Means of low-level alarm/notification
A water level transmitter provides notification and control through an existing PLC
(programmable logic controller) when a targeted low or high water level is reached in the
tank. When the low set-point is reached, the pumps turn on; when the high set-point is
reached, the pumps turn off. This automated system also sends an audio alarm through
BHS handheld radios, insuring that a Systems Operator is notified in the unlikely event of
abnormally low levels of water in the tank.
4)Percentage of the water supply used daily and bow it is replenished
Currently, on an average day, BUS uses between 18-20,000 gallons of domestic/potable
water, or a little under 10%of the combined total capacity of the two cells. This allows
BHS to wait out a 3-5 day turbidity event in the water supply source, while at the same
time meeting the required demand of the Lodge Sprinkler system. See#3 above for
details regarding replenishing water in the tanks.
5) Refill method capable of keeping the tank full enough to meet the needed fire
protection water
The proposed method of ensuring enough water will be available to meet the peak load
demand of the fire sprinkler system is a tank/piping design that automatically retains
92,363 gallons of water in Cell#2(the cell that is connected directly to the Lodge Fire
Sprinkler System) before water can be drawn for anything else. See#3 above for details
regarding refill method.
6) Any other means that supports Warren's decision to determine that this would be
a reliable water source
Breitenbush Hot Springs has a Community Water System Charter that reads as follows:
The first priority of the Breitenbush Community Water System is to provide safe
drinking water to our guests and resident community. We do this by complying
with state and federal guidelines as defined by the EPA and enforced through
Oregon Health Authority, DHS-Drinking Water Program. To protect human
health and safety, the Breitenbush Community Water System is also committed to
ancillary fire protection when there is fire danger.
The Breitenbush Community Water System is comprised of a treatment facility
and a distribution network with approximately 2 miles of watermain, 37
watermain valves, and a 17,000 gallon, in-ground storage facility. The
Breitenbush Systems Team maintains the potable water treatment and distribution
system within the 154.5 acre Breitenbush campus.
It is important to consider that, because of our remote location, BHS provides all of its
own utilities, including water for domestic use and fife suppression. The proposed
reservoir, with capacity for 184,726 gallons, will contain the largest single body of
sequestered water on the property, or anywhere dose by, for that matter. Because of the
