As the volume of the
collected material in the tank increases, the effectiveness
of the septic tank decreases. This directly affects the
waste strength of the effluent that the sand filter re-
ceives. Inadequate maintenance of the septic tank can
lead to clogging of the sand filter and failure of the
septic tank.

Pursuant to the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality
on-Site sewage Disposal Rules, septic tank pumping is
required every four (4) years. The purpose of this letter
is to advise you that the septic tank of your sand filter
system needs pumping four years from the installation
completion date and every four years thereafter. The work
must be performed by a licensed septic tank pumper. See
your telephone Yellow Pages for a listing of pumpers from
this area. A visual inspection of the pump (or dosing
siphon) and cleaning of the effluent screen is recommended.

Please remit a copy of the pumping receipt to our office.
If you would like an inspection/evaluation of your sand
filter system, please submit an application to our office
for an Annual Evaluation for an Alternative System along
with the appropriate fees. Please feel free to contact our
office_~ if you havre any questions pertaining to the opera-
tionI~a~and filter syat~m.
ROBERT FO~"JER~ REGTST~RED SANITARIAN
MARION COUNTY BUILDING INSPECTION

Senator Building 220 High Street NE Salem, Oregon 97301-36;'0
