O1DC
530 N SANTIAM HWY. DETROIT, ORE. 97342

I stopped by this property 8/16/93 and reviewed the site
in conjunction with your proposal to add a bedroom to the
existing one bedroom cabin. Of major concern, is whether
there is enough area to construct a replacement septic
system should the existing system fail under the expected
increase in the daily sewage flow load.

Space is very limited for future repairs. Even without
the addition an alternative sand filter system will be
necessary. The minimum sand filter design must provide
capacity for 300 gallons of daily sewage flow which is
the amount expected from a two bedroom residence. As
such, we would have no objection to the second bedroom as
long as a design for constructing the sand filter system
can be developed.

I suggest that you work with a qualified licensed septic
system installer to assist with the sand filter layout
and plot plan. A list of installers is enclosed for your
convenience. Refer to the stakeout procedure and the
setback list for details to complete the stakeout. The
sand filter must provide for 370 square feet of capacity
and 60 feet of seepage trench drainfield line. Keep in
mind that the sand filter must be located on a solid
stable landform and the drainfields only constructed into
the natural undisturbed topsoil.

Submit
opment
questions.
