Marion

OREGON
COMMUNITY DE~EI_OPMENT
DEPARTMENT

EVALUATION REPORT FOR AN
ON-SITE SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM

July 1, 1992

MARY FRAZIER
P.O. BOX 713
SILVERTON, OREGON

97381

SUBJECT:

SITE #92-2026, T:8S, R:iW, S:29
SITE ADDRESS: 11055 JAMES WAY SE., AUMSVILLE, ORE. 97325

An evaluation has been made of the above described property proposed for
installation of an on-site sewage disposal system. As a result of that
investigation, it has been determined that the site specified on your applica-
tion does not qualify for a standard, septic system or any of the alternative
systems. The conditions on the site do not meet the minimum requirements of
the Department of Environmental Quality On-Site Sewage Disposal Rules. These
rules are specified in Oregon Administrative Rules, Chapter 340, Division 71,
Sections 100 through 600. Consequently, this site must be denied.

The principal reasons for denial of this site are related to parcel size and
setbacks. The following paragraphs outline the specific reasons for this
denial.

PARCEL SIZE AND SETBACKS:
1. There is insufficient area on the property for installation of an
approved on-site septic system which will meet the setbacks as
required in the D.E.Q. rules. The setbacks which are of particular
concern are circled on the attached sheet. Each lot or parcel must
have sufficient usable area available to accommodate an initial
and replacement septic system.

It should be noted that this study was done only in the area proposed on your
application for on-site sewage disposal. Within the boundaries of your proper-
ty, it is possible that soil conditions in a different area of the property
may be different than those examined in the existing test pits. If you feel
that better soil conditions may exist in another area of the property,
additional test pits will be inspected with no additional charge. Prepare and
submit a new site plan showing the new area proposed for evaluation. Notify
this office of your request in writing and within ninety (90) days of the
initial site evaluation.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
We will reconsider this proposal with a detailed field stakeout. Refer
to the enclosed stakeout procedure. The stakeout must show all proposed
development. Only a limited portion of this property can be considered for
standard septic system drainfield construction. That area is southeast of the
three northerly test pits ( see enclosed diagram ). The required amount of
drainfield for a one through four bedroom residence is 450 lineal feet. Keep
· in mind that an equal amount of drainfield is necessary for a complete
replacement drainfield. An alternative sand filter replacement system can be
considered which includes only 150 lineal feet of drainfield should there
prove not enough area for two standard system drainfields.
