Handrails meeting the following reguirements shall be <br /> provided on at least one side of s~airways. The handg?ip <br /> portion of handrails shall be not more than 2 5/8 inches in <br /> cross-sectional dimension, or the shape shall provide an <br /> equivalent gripping surface. Handrails shall be mounted <br /> between a minimum of 30 inches and a maximum of 38 inches. <br /> They shall be continuous the full length of the stairs. <br /> Ends shall be returned or shall terminate in newel posts or <br /> safet~ terminals. <br /> <br /> 9. A minimum 3' x 3' landing shall be required on each side of <br /> an egress door. The floor or landing shall not be more <br /> than one and one-half inches lower than the top of the <br /> threshold.
