MINIMUM ROOF FRAMING MEMBERS REQUIRED, <br /> <br /> The plans specify 2x6 rafters at 24 inches on center. <br /> This rafter size and spacing is inadequate, The following <br /> minimum size and spacing shall be used: <br /> DF #2 - 2x8 at 12 inches on center. <br /> 2x8 at 16 inches on center. <br /> 2x10 at 24 inches on center. <br /> The 4x4 roof beam is inadequate spanning the 10 feet. The <br /> following is the minimum size beam to use: <br /> DF #2 - 4x8 <br /> <br />6. GROUND CLEARANCE, Wood joists or the bottom of a wood <br /> structural floor closer than 18 inches or wood girders <br /> closer than 12 inches to exposed ground in crawl spaces or <br /> unexcavated areas located within the periphery of the <br /> building foundation shall be pressure treated lumber, <br /> [Sec, 222.1 (1)] <br />7. WOOD COLUMNS shall be approved wood of natural decay <br /> resistance or approved pressure treated wood, Exception: <br /> Post or columns not subject to the weather and supported by <br /> piers projecting 2 inches above the floor or finish grade <br /> and separated therefrom by an approved moisture barrier. <br /> [Sec, 222.1,4] <br />8, THE STRUCTUPJNL SUPPORTS for decks, balconies, porches or <br /> similar structures shall be pressure-treated wood to protect <br /> against decay.
