The card must be located near the driveway to the property to assist the inspector in locating the access onto the site. THE APPROVED SEPTIC SYSTEM AREA MUST BE PROTECTED from any vehicular traffic, livestock and farming activities. Other activities such as logging, excavating or filling, driveway placement or any similar activities may also damage the soil in the area and adversely affect the septic system approval. The areas of the initial septic system and the future repair system must both be protected. A CAPPING FILL DRAINFIELD IS REQUIRED in conjunction with the septic system approval. See the attached "CAPPING FILL" information sheet for instructions. CAPPING FILL systems are installed in soils where a layer that limits the effective soild depth or a water table is present in the soil profile at a depth shallower than allowed for a standard system, The drainfietd is installed a at a very shallow depth and fill is placed over the field to provide the earth cover over the system. CAPPING FILL SYSTEMS MAY ONLY BE INSTALLED FROM JUNE I AND OCTOBER 1 or during such times when Building Inspection staff finds soil moisture conditions acceptable. See the attached "CAPPING FILL" information sheet for instructions, Fill material must be evenly graded over the drainfield and crowned at the center to shed rainfall. SAND FILTER systems are installed in soils where a layer that limits the effective soil depth, or a water table is present in the soil profile at a depth much shallower than allowed for a standard system. The sand filter unit pre-treats the septic tank effluent before it is discharged into the ground. The drainfield following the sand filter is installed at a very shallow depth and generally includes a capping fill drainfield, See the attached "Sand Filter System Requirements for Plans", Two sets of plans for the system must be submitted at the time of application for the installation permit. OBSERVE ALL SETBACKS AND SEPARATION DISTANCES as required by the DEQ rules. The well placement is especially critical and must be located at least one-hundred (100) feet from the approved initial and replacement drainfield areas. A copy of the DEQ setback requirements is available in our office. A FIELD STAKEOUT IS RECOI~MENDED to confirm the locations and elevations of of the individual drainfeild lines for both drainfields. Refer to the stakeout procedure and the setback list for details to complete the stakeout.
