NE, Marion County, OR

Dear Mr. Walters:

Following are the requested clarifications per our telephone conversation today regarding the
roof rafters for the above-mentioned project:

1.)

z.)

3.)

4.)

5.)

The new iai[ers are to be continuous from the exterior wall fo the new ridge beam and
new hip rafters.

The two existing hip rafters at the front of the garage (hip 3 & 4 as shown on calculation
sheet I of 21 dated 8-24-99), are to be removed to allow the new rafters to span full
length from exterior wall to lhe new ridge or new hips.

New rafters are to have 1%' minimum bearing length on the new glu-lam beams.

The locations of new rafters are indicated in dashed lines as shown in the sketch on
calculation sheet 1 of 21. This sketch has bean revised in order to clarify that the area of
new E,=?~ers is to extend from the existing roof peak foreword to the new garage wall.
New rafters are to be continuous, and existing hips 3 & 4 are to be removed.

We have included ~NO additional calculation sheets in order to verify that stresses in the
new rafters are within allowable limits.

Best regards,

BRESHEARS/THORNTON
ENmNEERING CONSULTANTS, LTD.

Eric C.
