Marion County
BUSIIYESS SERVICES
Financial Services Divn.
MEMOKAI`IDUM
Date: June 27, 2000
To: ~ ~ ~w% ~ ~ ,~
~~ .. ~~
Randy Curtis
From: Peggy Mitchell
RE: Systems & Other Furniture Purchases for Courthouse Square
Attached is a revised summary of all known furniture purchases for our move into Courthouse
Square. I have also attached copies of each department's written responses to our request for
cost center, fiscal year funds budgeted, other furniture requirements and request and justification
for assistance from the project budget.
I received a voice message from Carolyn Berry at Neighbor to Neighbor yesterday afternoon.
Originally they requested that we price out panels and one workstation unit for them. Carolyn
indicated that she is negotiating with her executive board to find the funds to purchase the
partitions only for their leased space in the building. They will not be purchasing the work
surfaces that we had quoted, only the paneling. They would also like to seek assistance from the
project to purchase their panel needs with the caveat that if they leave they building, the county
would own the panels. She will follow up with written communication to me by Friday.
As you know, the price quote obtained from Office World included pricing for electrical
connections and powered panels where needed. The vendor has isolated the electrical
connection costs for each department per a request from Bob McCune. He wanted a cost
comparison of Herman Miller installed electrical connections vs. his staff wiring the necessary
panels. He had indicated that this portion of the expense could be absorbed by the project rather
than by each department if it proved to be cost effective to purchase powered panels. I've
attached a spreadsheet showing the electrical portion for each department. T'he total comes to
$11,356.80 to add the power connections where we indicated. I would ask that consideration be
made to reduce each department's portion by the electrical costs and have the project absorb this
cost.
My deadline to place the order for systems furniture anc~ enter a PO to reserve funds is Friday,
