Wasson, Project Manager Re: Amendment number 5 to Melvin Mark Contract Date: March 20, 2000 Recommendation: Approve this contract amendment to extend the services of Melvin Mark Development Company to the end of the construction period. This amendment will add $178,97724 to the contract amount. Background: When the contract with Melvin Mark Development Company was originally entered into it was for a 20 month period that ends March 31, 2000. The design, bidding and project review steps that the project has gone through has extended the project past the original completion time line of the project. Melvin Mark is our designated construction manager for the project and it is in the projects' interest not to interrupt those services until the construction in completed, contractually this is projected to be November 2000. This amendment will extend the services of Melvin Mark to Dec. 31, 2000. It also has a provision that removes from payment consideration a percentage of the change orders in the project. This provision has a potential impact of $SO,OOOplus on the project. The detailed list of services that Melvin Mark provides is attached to the amendment.
