Dan cautioned us not to enter into the architectural contract until we were explicit in the scope of
services to be perfonned and the commensurate fee. I told him that our attomey's were dealing with
Arbuckle Costic only on the legal language and provisions for dispute settlement, and FTA regulations
and that the compensation issue (including the scope of services to be performed) were being held for
Randy and I to deal with. I suggested that Dan and Craig should meet with Randy and I on that
specific issue when the balance of the contract and the data requested from Alan Costic are
ava~lable.
Dan also suggested that they review the contract with Pence Kelley to make sure that the scope of
work dovetails with the architects, as well as make suggestions to us relative to compensation. I told
him I thought that was a good idea. : - ~~ 4_;.
Dan suggested that it would be money well-spent to retain an estimating company to prepare a
separate estimate on the project as a second opinion and to check that PK has not missed some
component of the project. I suggested that we need to have a discussion of that with Randy.
~~ " I have noted in review of these invoices that they are no
better documented than the current ones and, therefore, Dan should request the necessary
supporting data on them as well.
• Page 2
