.cONARD
From: LEONARD
ent: February 10, 1999 2:07 PM
. MARY
ubject: RE: Clock Tower alternate
Billy
The A.C.C. estimate for the entire piece for alternate #11 was $ 273,423. If we compare that estimate to the
actual overall bid amount, Alternate 11 should have come in at approximately $216,560. That never happens
of course. In a climate where bidders realize that the project will come in under budget, the objective is to go
in tight on the Base Bid and to make up as much as possible on the Add Alternates on the assumption they
will proceed.
On the above basis:
$413,000 -$216,560 =$196,440 outright shared cost between the parties since it really represents some level
of profit for P/K on the Base Bid.
$53,760 is the assumed contribution to the project from the City of Salem for weather protection.
$162,800remains as the real cost from this Alternate for you to divide up.
I have reviewed the A.C.C. estimate for the value of the actual Clock Tower, ie: everything above 16 feet
above grade and as near as can be determined without a new quantity takeoff, expect that this cost should be
around $50,000.
Of course there are other ways to rationalize these costs, but I'm inclined to think this is the fair one.
Leonard Lodder, A.I.A.
Arbuckle Costic Architects, Inc.
363 State Street,
alem, OR 97301-3533
mail: acarch@open.org
-----Original Message-----
From: MARY
Sent: February 10, 1999 1:07 PM
To: LEONARD
Subject: FW: Clock Tower alternate
From: Billy Wasson
Sent: Wednesday, February 10, 1999 11:56 AM
To: acarch@open.org
Cc: whittingtonj@cherriots.org; bwasson@OPENGOVT.OPEN.ORG; rcurtis@OPENGOVT.OPEN.ORG
Subject: Clock Tower alternate
Leonard:
Would you break down this alternate, as best you can. How much of the
$413,000 will qualify for Streetscape reimbursement? How much of the
alternate is made up of the clock tower perse vs. the pavilions and
weather protection.l
I would like this info when I come to your office tomorrow a.m. thanks.
~
