i•
r
Leonazd Lodder, AIA
Apri126, 1999
Page 3
Please be advised that Salem Revised Code 77.130 requires that the contractor shall give the City
a minimum of 48 hours' notice prior to beginning construction (excluding weekends and holidays).
The 48-hour notice shall not be given until after issuance of a construction permit. This notice should
be given to the City's inspection office at (503) 588-6211. For fire service projects, this notice should
be given to the City's Utilities Inspections Section at (503) 588-6063.
Please take the necessary steps to ensure that the City of Salem and all utility companies receive
notification and requests for location at least 48 hours prior to the start of construction. Requests for
inspection and testing of the system should be made to the City at least 24 hours in advance.
Submit one set of revised plans to all utility companies. All costs for relocation of existing utilities
shall be borne by the developer.
The consulting engineer shall be responsible for providing all surveying services necessary to stake
the project prior to construction and to prepare the as-built drawings when the project is complete.
Construction must meet City of Salem Standard Construction Specifications as to materials and
workmanship.
Per Salem Revised Code Section 77.120, the engineer sha11, prior to final acceptance and the start
of the one-year warranty period, furnish five rolled sets of good quality blackline prints of as-built
drawings for each construction phase, i.e., sewer, water, storm drain, and/or street improvement, and
all required easements.
Criteria for acceptable "as-built" drawings may be obtained by calling the Construction Inspection
Section at (503) 588-6211. Our "Acceptance for Completion" letter will state the dates of the one-
year warranty period. At the close of the successful warranty period, you will receive a letter of
"Final Acceptance."
LHG:P:V85035.e~P
