Jim feels we are dragging our feet on requesting Intertace Engineering's investigation
of the LEED issues raised in HaRling 8~ Lawson's letter of June 1, 1999. You can imagine our surprise. At the
end of the Development Team meeting today, I had just raised my concem about a letter regarding additional
services provided in regard to Solid Waste's office space (a letter which has gone unanswered since November
24, 1999).
In addition, the attention required of the Design Team in order to process and respond to LEED related issues
is, from our pe~pective, a legitimate additional service. Since the Development Team has capped our fees at
• $5,000 and since we have used up that allocation months ago, we are reludant to prioritize this issue.
We have already sent the material to Interface Engineering and we tnist we will have some of the information
by June 17, 1999. However, we may not have all of the information since some of the costs must come from
Pence Kelly Construdion. In o~+der to proceed with this work, the Design Team would appreciate authorization
from the Development Team, so that service provided in nefe~+ence to LEED are covered as an additional service
at the hourly rates applicable to the persons involved, plus reimbursable costs.
We have attached, for information, a copy of our letter dated November 24,1998 in reference to the Solid Waste
DepartmenYs interior design services. Should you have any questions, please call.
Ceonard Lodder, AIA
Architect
LL:mel
Encl.
cc: John Whittington, Salem Area Mass Transit
Craig Lewis, Melvin Mark Development Company.
9828.1 A
C ~
