Could you look into that for us?
P/K has not yet received a signed COR on this issue. Therefore they are
proceeding with work on the fifth floor as though the Treasurer remains on
the Fourth floor. In today's Construction meeting we pressed for updated
costing on this COR.
Also, we talked about the height of the half wall in the Tax department.
We have a concern that the employees will not be able to see when they have
customers at the counter because the wall will block the view.
We treated this wall as a guard around the raised platform. As such it is
not required, although it does have value as a modesty panel for the benefit
of employees working on the raised platForm. In reviewing this with Lisa in
our office, we understood that at least one of the windows would always be
attended.
If you feel we need to reduce the height of this wall, please let me know.
We also got to talking when we returned to our office, and we are
concerned that the windows that open up for the tax employees to assist the
public are terribly short. If a tax payer was over six foot tall, will they
have to stoop to see the employee that is waiting on them? Could you look
into this? Would you like me to come back over and look at it with you?
We have provided the largest operating transaction window available. Tax
Office employees specifically requested obscure glass at the transaction
windows, to be able to eliminate eye contact with the waiting area when a
station is unmanned. I personally don't like the restricted view between
staff and taxpayers either, but the design responds to Tax O~ce staff
requests.
Do you feel we need to re-evaluate the design of this space?
Leonard Lodder, A.I.A.
Arbuckle Costic Architects, Inc.
363 State Street,
Salem, OR 97301-3533
email: Ilodder@arbucklecostic.com
i~ ~ .~~
~~ '~~~~ ~ ~
,;
S ~ ~~~,~~ ~~ ~ - ~~
~
