-5-
B(b). Uuring warm weather conditions, any protective suits
required to be worn will be the "breathable" type (e.g:,
Kimberly Clark "K1eenGuard"). An ample supply of water,
and shaded rest areas, will be made available. Workers
will dress down and take a 5-10 minute break at least
once every hour. Site supervisors will continuously
monitor all workers f or signs of over-heating (symptoms
discussed in Medical Surveillance section).
IV. Protective Equipment.
All employees engaged in work activities where contact with
fixtures, or debris potentially contaminated by wood treating
products will wear chemical protective gloves.
Suitable work boots, with puncture-resistant soles, will be
worn by all persons in the work area.
Appropriate eye and/or face protection will be worn during a'l1
torch cutting operations.
Hard hats will be worn at all times while within the work area.
Suitable hearing protection equipment will be worn by all
workers potentially exposed to noise levels in excess of
current OSHA standards (85 dB; 8 hr Time-Weighted Average).
Applicable ~ermissible Exposure Limits (PELs) are not
anticipated to be exceeded during any of the demolition
operations. However, as a precaution. the following
respiratory equipment will be utilized:
(1) Workers engaged torch cutting operations will wear
disposable respirators approved for protection against
dusts. mists, and welding fumes.
(2) If dusty conditions result during demolition operations
te.g., tearing out of concrete; jack hammering of
concrete), potentially exposed workers will wear nuisance
dust masks.
V. Training: Because this project does not involves the cleanup
of materials classified as hazardous wastes, employees working
on this project are not required by regulation to have
completed a certified 40 hr Hazardous Waste Worker training ~
program. However, project contract specifications do reguire
that all site workers have completed a 40 hr hazardous waste
worker training program.
