3 respiratory protection plan. HAZARD CONTROL (PROTECTIVE CLOTHING): Protective clothing will be used to protect lead from contacting employee street clothing, skin or hair. The standard applies whenever employees are exposed to lead above the PEL and where there is exposure to lead compounds that may cause skin or eye irritation. This clothing is provided at no cost to the employee on a daily basis. In addition, eye and hearing protection will also be provided at no cost to the employee. Protective clothing will be left on site at the end of each work day and disposed of with demolition debris. ~ AIR MONITORING• Air monitoring •is required by 29 CFR 1926. 62. The requirements call for initial monitoring to determine if demolition activities will produce emissions with lead concentrations above action levels. The standard provides for the use of previous air monitoring data (from similar projects the contractor has done) or objective data which demonstrate that air monitoring is not needed. If new equipment , processes or personnel are used on this project additional air monitoring must be conducted if there is a possibility of exposure. Employees must be notified of the results of all air monitoring within 5 working days of the completion of air monitoring. Staton Construction will conduct air monitoring in full compliance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.62. ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROLS: This control means utilizing job rotation to reduce employee exposure to below the 8 hr. TWA indicated in the standard. Although allowed by 29 CFR 1926.62, Staton Construction will generally not utilize job rotation because of peak or episodic concentrations of lead and other contaminants on the job. When work schedules or other safety hazards such as heat, require short workdays, or job rotation is used to achieve compliance with the standard, the following resource will be maintained as a part of the project records and made available to employees on site: ~ Name of each affected employee. • Donation & exposure level, each task/each employee. • Description of each employees' task. • BLL monitoring for affected employees. INFORMATION, TRAINING, NOTIFICATION: All employees on this project will be trained under the hazard communication standard (1926.59). Employees will also be trained on any specific safety hazards as specified in 1926.21. All employees will receive site specific training (tailgate) on specific hazards and the compliance program in effect for this proj ect .
