Staton Construction, Inc. <br />RE S P= RATORY PROT ECT = ON PROGRAM <br />PURPOSE: <br />The purpose of this program is to ensure the protection of all employees <br />from respiratory hazards through, where hazards can not be effectively <br />reduced by work practices or engineered controls, the proper use of <br />respirators. <br />RESPONSIBILITY: <br />The designated Company Safety Officer for this project is <br />He/she is solely responsible for all facets of this program, and has <br />full authority to make necessary decisions to ensure the success of the <br />program. The Safety Officer will decide when respiratory protection <br />equipment will be required to be used, the most appropriate type of <br />equipment for the hazards to be encountered, and has the authority to <br />halt any work operation where there is danger of serious personal <br />injury. <br />PROGRAM GOALS: <br />The goal of this program is to prevent occupational diseases caused by <br />breathing air contaminated with such things as harmful dusts, mists, or <br />fumes, and/or potentially toxic gases and vapors. In all cases, work <br />operations will be evaluated to determine if atmospheric contamination <br />can be prevented through the use of work practices or engineered <br />controls. Where these methods are found to be either infeasible or <br />inadequate, appropriate respiratory protection equipment will be <br />utilized by employees. <br />
