Luis B. Andersen-Wyckoff, General Manager of the District,
expressing his intent to reassign his Courthouse Square project management
responsibilities to John Whittington, the District's Planning and Marketing
manager. Mr. Andersen-Wyckoff further states that in order to assure that Mr.
Whittington has full flexibility to address matters relative to this project, that Mr.
Whittington will report directly to the Board of Directors regarding the project.
While the Board of Directors will not take official action on this matter until
tomorrow evening, the sense 1 have gotten from speaking with members of the
Board is that the Board will support, accept and impiement the course of action
delineated in the memorandum.
For the record, let me further state that the Board of Directors, at its November
20, 1997 meeting, unanimously endorsed the importance of the Courthouse
Square project for the Salem-Keizer and the Marion and Polk Counties
communities; renewed its fu(I commitment to the project; and, reaffirmed the
need to continue in this unique partnership with the County on the project.
Sincerely,
Luis B. Caraballo, President
Board of Directors,
Salem Area Mass Transit District
