The partnership envisioned the joint
redevelopment of the Senator Block into a project l~nown as "Courthouse Squaze."
On May 1, 1996 the County received proposals from Prudential Rea1 Estate
Professionals and SABA Investments in response to our RFP to assist in the
development of Courkhouse Square. The proposers offered financial,
architectural, construction and development services to Marion County and the
Sa1em Area Transit District.
On June 4, 1996 a 10 person review panel conducted interviews with the two
proposers. The panel created a subcommittee to evaluate the two proposals, along
with new information obtained in the interviews. On June 21, 1996 the r~view
panel recommended, to the Board of Commissioners, that Prudential (Dan Berrey)
be selected as the development team for this project. The recommendation
included an understanding that negotiations with Mr. Berrey, dba Courthouse
Square Inc., would not be finalized until the financial feasibility of the project was
determined.
1
Senator Building • 220 High Street NE • Salem, Oregon 97301-3670
