As I indicated in
our phone conversation, my time frame for the analysis of this project is rather
short so I have enclosed some of the material that defines the scope and objectives
of this project.
Last month a review panel recommended that Marion County and the Transit
District begin negotiations with a development team headed up by Dan Beney of
Certified Property Management Co. of Sa1em. Mr. Berrey was the successful
respondent to an RFP. His development team includes Arbuckle/Costic Archi-
tects and Pence/Kelly Construction. His interim role is to act as project manager
although a contract has not yet been signed.
' ' this project is to construct a new office com-
plex to replace the aging Senator Building and provide new office space for
future growth. Marion County has entered into a tentative partnership to jointly
redevelop the Senator Block. The district is in need of a new transit center and
has acquired tentative FTA approval for $7 million in federal funding to construct
the center on the Senator Block. After two bond failures, the county has no
funding for a new office building. Our only resources are the property assets we
have on the block, a$3.7 million grant request pending with Senator Hatfield and
some transfer funds from the Transit District as they share in the cost of the
project.
100 High Street NE, Room 5321 .
