R <br />JOINT RESOLUTION <br />(Marion County Resolution #96-59R) <br />(Salem Area Mass Transit District Resolution #96-12) <br />A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE MARION COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SALEM AREA MASS TRANSIT <br />DISTRICT RECOGNIZING THE SERVICE OF U.S. SENATOR MARK O. HATFIELD <br />WHEREAS, 5enator Mark O. Hatfield is retiring after serving 30 <br />years in the United States Senate; and, <br />WHEREAS, Senator Hatfield has earned the respect of his peers and <br />the admiration and respect of his constituents for his <br />tireless dedication to the public good in general and Oregon <br />specifically;,and, <br />WHEREAS, Senator Hatfield has played a significant role in <br />obtaining Federal assistance for the development of Courthouse <br />Square, a unique public/private joint venture in downtown <br />Salem; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Salem Area Mass Transit <br />District and the Marion County Board of Commissioners, the two <br />public partners and elected representatives of the <br />beneficiaries in the aforementioned Courthouse Square project, <br />desire to recognize the contributions of Senator Hatfield to <br />the Courthouse Square project and for his good works on behalf <br />of all the citizens of Oregon. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the <br />Salem Area Mass Transit District and the Marion County Board <br />
