~• i
It is quite conceivable that these items will not exhaust the remaining pledge balance. In an
effort to expand the art project, City Council at its meeting of June 26, 2000, proposed our
current agreement be amended reducing the maximum participation of $2,000,000 by $58,000.
The Agency could then enter into a separate agreement with the Transit District for participation
in the art project. This agreement would provide for a reimbursement of up to $58,000 for the
fabrication and placement of public art within the exterior plaza area of the Courthouse Square.
As the procurement process has akeady been initiated by the Committee/District, it would be
necessary for the District to certify that the selection process for the art work has been
conformance with applicable State of Oregon procurement requirements.
The planned art element would not only be an enhancement to the Courthouse Square project but
will additionally enrich the downtown environment and experience. We look forward to your
early response to this proposal.
Sincer y,
Mike Swaim
Mayor
