May 12, 1997 <br />SUMMARY OF MEETING WITH STATON CONSTRUCTION ON MAY 7TH <br />-Staton will evaluate and report on what is necessary to move the brick wall in the Beri Bldg. <br />-Coordination with PIC is well established. Discussed the need to fence the perimeter soon. <br />They will fence to and from the doors of the Liu Bldg. to allow passage for resident(s). <br />One apartment may be occupied until the end of May. <br />-Start date is expected to be the end of the week of May 12th or on the 19th. A draft timeline <br />was distributed by Staton. Staton needs a letter to proceed and a signed contract to start. <br />They will coordinate with Pence/Kelly at about six weeks into the project to plan for the <br />start of excavation planned for July 11 th. <br />-A detailed discussion was had regarding salvage/recycling and Staton's proposal in their May <br />Sth letter. Debbie Allen will be on contract with Marion County Solid Waste to work <br />with Staton regarding cataloging materials and finding sources to buy. Staton expects to <br />recycle/salvage 100% of inetal and 90% of wood. They have already contacted buyers to <br />view the project area to identify materials for purchase. Some items such as sinks, door <br />knobs, etc. have been removed. This lessens the value of doors and sinks. County <br />expects all asbestos/hazardous materials will be removed ahead of Staton. Staton agreed <br />to propose language for item 24.2, (1), (2) and (5). County to review and propose <br />language regarding any "penalty". <br />-County has requested that Chevron remove their remediation equipment no later than June 15th. <br />-County agrees to waive the requirement of pollution liability insurance-last item in May Sth <br />letter from Staton. <br />-All permits must be obtained, but there will be no charge because this is a local government <br />project. Staton should refer to the Courthouse Square project of Marion County and <br />Salem Area Mass Transit if there is a question when applying for the permits. <br />-Item 5 in Staton letter of May Sth: it was agreed that 24 hr. Notification was not practical. ~ <br />Changes will be addressed during weekly meetings reviewing status and timeframes and <br />on an as needed basis in coordination with the County. <br />-Item 10 in the Staton letter of May Sth: clarified that interpretation would occur regarding <br />county regulations, standards and specifications. All others would be met as required- <br />city,state and federal requirements. <br />-Item 18 in the Staton letter of May Sth: County agreed to accept Staton's lien release form. <br />-Section 01313 1.1(3)-these items are to be addressed in Staton's written work plan. The plan <br />will address strategy for demolition of each section of each building including <br />salvage/recyling efforts, safety plans regarding shoring and other techniques to prevent a <br />collapse, and indication of compliance with applicable standards. Plan should be certified <br />by an engineer or other professional acceptable to the county. <br />Compliance with the remaining aspects of this section need to be discussed and <br />coordinated with County. <br />-Facilities Management wants compressor on one of the roofs, so Staton needs to coordinate the <br />removal. <br />-Kathleen Thorp is to provide a copy of the materials survey to Staton. <br />-Referred Staton to addendums and all sections of contract/specifications/attachments. <br />
