Not having control over the space leaves the county in
a less secure position, i.e., change in ownership could
result in loss of space should the new owner wish to
use the building for other purposes.
The housing for residents now located in the Senator Building was
a concern. The Housing Authority.indicated that this was not an
issue the Downtown Sub-Committee needed to deal with. The portion
remaining will require 2,627 square feet and will house five
staff. Public Works feels they can provide better service with
this arrangement. The addition at the shops will be paid for
from highway funds, but it does represent a new building not
here-to-for considered.
The Downtown Sub-Committee recommends that a new County
Administration Building be constructed in the Senator Block, and
adjoined to the present Courthouse via either a skybridge or
tunnel.
APPENDIX A -- COMMITTEE MEMBERS
APPENDIX B -- MINUTES
-7-
