The Chairman inquired about the parking situation. Ruth respond-
ed that additional parking space would have to be added to ac-
commodate all staff.
Ira inquired as to whether some services currently offered by the
Health Dept. could be "farmed out" to save space and money.
Ruth stated that those kinds of decisions are up to the Commiss-
ioner's Office. Some things are already contracted out.
Jack inquired as to whether the Health Dept. is becoming more of
a conduit than a service provider. Ruth responded that while there
are a lot of changes going on within the Health Dept., that no, that
is not the case at this point.
The Chairman asked for clarification on the number of workstation-
s. There are two numbers given in the report: 212 and 153. Ruth
responded that 153 is what they currently have; 212 is what they
need.
Maynard asked if, as the Health Dept. staff increases, will there be
enough square footage to accommodate them? Has this been
taken into account? Ruth responded that she will look into that and
report on it at the next meeting.
Mark asked how much space is being used by other agencies in
the building. Ruth responded that OSU Extension and Dog Control
currently occupy 4400 square feet of the building.
Lydia inquired as to whether the staff at the Chemeketa and Front
St. locations, who would move to 3180 Center St., had been taken
into account. Would there be enough space for them? Ruth re-
sponded yes to both questions.
Valerie would like to know how many workstations are needed for
each Health Dept. subsection, how much space, and the revenue
sources. Ruth will provide that information at the next meeting,
along with the operating hours of each subsection.
The Chairman requested that Ruth explain how all of the Health
Dept. services fit together. Ruth will also provide the Chairman
with a copy of the Strategic Plan.
3
