• The OJD has aLso placed increased emphasis on long-range planning. Tt1e focus of this <br />planning is tracking emerging trends and issues in justice, developing new court policy <br />and procedures, and improving relations with other parts of state government and <br />other justice stakeholders. <br />Quality Management <br />The Oregon Judicial Department adheres to the principles of quality management in <br />administering the state court system. [ts work environment reflects a consistency oE <br />purpose and a commitment to continually improve dispute resolution services. The OJD <br />recognizes court users as customers, and has increased its attention to customer satisfaction. <br />It regularly assesses public perceptions and, where appropriate, the satisfaction of court <br />users. <br />• Judges, administrators, supervisors and court personnel acknc~wled~e that every ~erson <br />and activity is interdependent, contributing to the value o( the institution <br />Administration is not conducted in a top-down manner; ratt~er, employees actively <br />participate in decision-making. Court administrators play <~ leadinfi role in facilitatin~ <br />employee training, education and decision-making. <br />• Employees are an integral and valued component of the OJD Jud~es and employees <br />continue their work together with a greater emphasis on quality management <br />principles that define, communicate and guide the mana~ement process <br />• All employees are highly educated and well-trained. Thev learn the basic skills of ~roup <br />facilitation, efficient use of technology and interpersonal ~ob skills through on-the-job <br />training. They are also cross-trained to learn about other ~ohs Trainin~ ~s des~gned to <br />empower employees and encourage ideas for improvement from those who have Eirst- <br />hand experience with a particular process. <br />• The OJD regularly monitors and evaluates innovations in court administration to <br />determine their effectiveness.
