Subcommittee Recommendations (Summary) <br />Juvenile: Option 1. Purchase 5 acres adjacent to current site and construct a <br />new 105,000 sq. ft. (128 bed) detention fac. Cost; $18 million for 4 <br />pods. <br />Option 2. Renovate existing building and add 4 pods. Cost; $17.5 <br />million. <br />Corrections: Move adult corrections, administration, parole and probation to the new <br />Tri-Agency Building. The vacated space in the Work Release Center <br />will be used for inmate housing. This will allow the Work Center to <br />expand from the existing 76 beds to 130 beds as operating revenues <br />will support. The vacated space at 3060 Center St. will be occupied by <br />the Juvenile Dept. <br />Tri-Agenc~ Construct a 165,000 sq. ft. Joint Law Enforcement Facility, at the <br />Corrections Campus, to house the Counry Sheriff, Salem Police and <br />Municipal Court, Oregon State Police and County Corrections. Cost; <br />$30 million dollars. <br />Dog Control: Construct a 3700 NSF office (without Kennel) on 5 acres of land <br />adjacent to the Humane Society on Turner Rd. Cost estimate: <br />$600,000 plus development charges. <br />Health: Acquire an additional 20,000 NSF of space on the Health/Juvenile <br />campus to meet 1994 needs. In order to acquire this space remodeling <br />and new construction will be required. Cost estimate: $2.9 million. In <br />order to meet 20 year space needs, additional new construction will <br />cost $4.3 million. These estimates do not include satellite offices. <br />Construct a new Justice Center (90,000 NSF) on the Senator Block. <br />Cost estimate: $19.5 million. Renovate the Courthouse for County <br />Courts/ offices. Cost estimate: $5.5 million. <br />-OR- <br />Downtown: Construct a new Public Service Bldg. (108,000 NSF), on the Senator <br />Block. Cost estimate: $21 million. Renovate the Courthouse for <br />Courts, Cost estimate: $3 million. <br />
