Marion County Facilities Master Plan
PLAN "A,~
Advantages
• Less expensive in terms of initial capital outlay. Ivfinor new construction will be
required at sites other than downtown.
.• Leased space will be brought on as space needs require.
• Minor disruption of existing departments.
Disadvantages
• Leased space will be driven by the market pface available. Quality and location of
lease space may or may not fit with County needs.
• County will continue to operate existing buildings which require maintenance and
operation funds. This is specifically true with the Franklin and Senator buildings.
• Length of lease space could result in a short term arrangement.
• Lease space may cause departments to become disjointed in separate rental areas.
• There may be little opportunity fnr departments to share common spaces, i.e.
restrooms, breakrooms and storage areas ect:
• County govemment wi(l not have a strong visible identity.
Page 116
