Compaction of fills other than trench backfills shall be done with an adequate <br />R 4 sheepsfoot roller, or an approved equal, unless otherwise specified. <br />~ , <br />l, <br />9. Footing excavations shall be cleaned of all loose soils, clods and mud to expose firm <br />~' undisturbed soils. This shall be done just prior to placement of concrete. <br />10. For specifications not specifically covered in this report, refer to local city and county <br />standards. <br />7.3 Foundation Design Criteria <br />Footings <br />1. Maximum allowable bearing shall not exceed 6,000 psf for dead load plus live load <br />for footings on native dense gravelly soils. This values may be increased 1/3 for <br />seismic and wind load conditions. <br />2. Maximum allowable bearing shall not exceed 2,500 psf for dead load plus live load <br />for footings placed entirely or in part on compacted fill. This value may be increased <br />1/3 for seismic and wind load conditions. <br />3. To utilize the xziaximum allowable bearing value, all footings must extend through <br />any fill or liackfill to bear on dense native gravelly soils. <br />4. It is recommended that all foundation elements be placed a minimum of 18 inches <br />below lowest adjacent grade. This will include expected frost penetration protection <br />for perimeter areas outside the garage excavation. <br />5. Recommended coefficient of friction between the base of footings and on site soils <br />is 0.50.
